Powdered Mango Leaves(Mangifera indica)as Tea

Abstract:

Tea, a beverage from China has introduced to other countries. Today, tea had become more and more popular because of its flavor.Commercial tea may have benefits to our health but most people cannot buy because it is expensive.

The purpose of the researcher in conducting this study is to inform people about mango leaves and how can this be made into useful product such as mango tea.Tea as we can hear or see in television can cure certain illness like diabetes.and so mango tea will help people to solve this problem.

To make tea, gather all the needed materials, the leaves must be washed properly, then, steam it, dry it until crisp and pulverized it and finally put in a tea bag.

The result of this study may vary such as the color, taste and even odor. The researcher therefore conclude that powdered mango leaves can be made into tea.

Chapter 1:

Introduction:

*Background of the study:

this project is related to human health.the researchers found out that the problem of community is prone to sickness caused by natural and man-made hazards. So the researchers are investigating this problem and they found out that the mango leaves can be made as tea.

*Statement of the problem:

-what is the economical value of the study?
-are there bad effects to human health?

*Hypothesis:

-the mango tea leaves can be alternative or substitute for other tea like green tea or black tea.
-the mango tea leaves has a substance that can be made as tea.

*Significance of the study:

To make tea out of mango leaves.

*Scope and Limitation:

the researchers conducted this study in order to make tea out of powdered mango leaves and only focused on that matter.

*Definition of terms:

mango leaves-the spreading crown of a mango tree, dark green in color.
tea-leaves from a wild tea bush fell into a pot of his drinking water as it was being boiled.
tea bag-container of the product.

*Review of Related Literature:

Mango (Mangifera indica) is a large tree with a dense and spreading crown.Mango trees came from India and widely cultivated for its fruit.mango leaves are oblong to oblong-lanceolate,10-30 cm. long and 6-16 cm broad. the leaves are orange-pink when young and turn dark green when mature. In India, cows were fed with mango leaves to obtain from their urine a substance which is euxanthic acid,a sugar conjugate and a major component of the I
ndian yellow, a dye. excessive light radiation being absorbed by leaves can result in inactivation and/or impaired of the chlorophyll-containing reaction centers of the chloroplasts and cause protoinhibition of photosyntesis (PI, light stress).drink infusion of young leaves as needed, juice of leaves used as dysentery, ashes of burned leaves used for scalds and burn, this is some uses of mango leaves.

Tea was discovered in china by a Chinese emperor Shen Nung. Tea leaves contains polyphenols, which include flavandiols, flavanoids and phenolic acids these compounds may account for up to 30% the dry weight.tea polyphenols are flavonols, commonly known as catechins. Some major green tea catechins are (-)- epigallocatechins -3- gallate(EGCG), (-)- epigallocatechins (ECG),(-)-epicatechins -3- gallate (ECG),(-)- epicatechins (EC). (+)- gallocatechins, and (+) catechins (5). the chemical structure of sme these compounds are caffeine, thebromine , and thephyllinen, the principal alkaloids, account for about 4% of the dry weight. In addition, there are phenolic acids gallic acids and characteristics amino acids such as theanine.

*Methodology:

Materials and Equipments:

Mango leaves-the spreading crown of mango tree, dark green color.
steamer-equipment used in steaming materials or objects.
water-used to wash the leaves.
tea bag-container of the product.
mortar and pestle-tool used to pound substances and the receptacle in which they are pulverized. a pestle is a shaped like a club and used to mill seeds, grains, herbs,or other ingredients down to a pulp or a powder in a mortar, which is usually a bowl-shaped vessel.

General Procedure:

*materials are gathered.
*wash the leaves.
*steam the pluck leaves as quickly as possible to prevent fermentation.
*dry the leaves through the process of firing or drying over the fire for 20 min.
*pound the leaves using the mortar and pestle until pulverized.
*when the leaves are almost fine put in the tea bag.

*Results and Discussion:

This chapter discussed the investigation results and observations conducted during the actual experimentation of the mango tea extracted from powdered mango leaves.

Chapter 5:

*Conclusion:

I therefore conclude that powdered mango leaves can be made as tea.

*Recommendation:

Instead of buying commercial tea, the researchers would like to recommend this new product to all. This is not expensive like the commercial ones. Making the mango tea can be done at home.
